Back to driving... oh dear

So after delaying as long as I think I possibly could have, I have my learners license back. I had my learners in Ontario, but after five years of not getting my full license, it expired. When I went to investigate getting it back, I was told that if I got my Alberta learner's within three years of my Ontario one expiring, I would not have to write any test or be in the graduated system. So that is what I did, just in the nick of time. I got my license on Feb. 5 and Feb. 20 would have been three years since my Ontario one expired. So now I have to learn how to drive. Boo. I really didn't enjoy my driving experience the first time round, I really hope that this time is better. I have been out a couple of times in Jon's car. Which of course is a standard, so not only am I learning how to drive, I am learning how to drive a standard. It's not going to badly. The concept of changing gears is really not as difficult as I thought it was going to be. I still get really nervous though. Jon is a good teacher though, he is being patient. The goal is to do my road test before we drive down to Ontario for the wedding.

Ah funny

So every Thursday night I try to stay up as late as possible so that I can sleep in as late a possible because I work the night shift at Cornerstone on Friday. Tonight I have been amusing myself with reading articles posted on Zambia Online: The National Homepage of Zambia (my sponsor child is from Zambia). I came across this little gem.

The writer of this article, Chanda Chisala, actually has several articles. In all of the ones I have read he denounces socialism and states that capitalism is the only way to go. In this article, he outright insults, rather sarcastically, the socialist governments of Zimbabwe and Venezuela. I found it to be an amusing read (perhaps my enjoyment of this article is brought on by the fact that it is almost 3am).

Wow neglecting my blog much?

This is definitely the longest I have gone without posting to my blog. I considered giving it up forever, but thought that I did not want to do that because that would mean that I only started it because it was the thing to do at the time. That doesn't sit well with me. Thus the blog will continue to have life. Hopefully, but not likely, lots of it.

So I guess it would be appropriate to do something that I really should have done a long while ago and that is announce that Jon and I are engaged. Now I know that about 98% of you who read this blog (that is if there is anyone left who does read it) already knows this, however for those of you who do not know this already, there you have. We got engaged on Christmas Eve and we are getting married on July 19! Yay! I can't wait.

There you have it folks. A post, finally.
