Are newt pictures on blogs cliche?

If so, my blog is being cliche again. Here is Kepler showing off his belly. He's got a pretty cool looking belly. Newts are just funny. Kepler likes to spend a lot of time clinging to the walls of his home. He is surprisingly good at climbing the bare glass walls.

A new member of the family

I would like to introduce to everyone the newest addition to my family, a fire belly newt named Kepler. I got him today. He is my birthday present from Jon. As you all might have guessed (or not) he is named after the famous astronomer Johannes Kepler. See, I thought it was amussing to him that because a lot of people name their newts the highly uncreative name of Newton or Issac after Issac Newton, so I enjoyed the idea of naming him after one of Newton's predessors. Kepler was someone who made important first steps in the era of modern astrophysics. He came up with three laws governing planetary motion, which are so named Kepler's Three Laws of Planetary Motion and are stated as follows:
1. A planet orbits the Sun in an ellipse, with the Sun at one focus of the ellipse.
2. A line connecting a planet to the Sun sweeps out equal areas in equal time intervals.
3. P^2=a^3 (the orbital period of a planet in years is proportional to the average distance of the planet from the Sun in astronomical units)

So anyways, there is your physics lession. Newts are really cool and really adorible.
